The batch had a total of 24 ship security personnel from Carnival Cruise Line, Carnival UK, AIDA Cruises, Costa Cruises, and Princess Cruises. The program addresses the training requirements of newly hired and existing security personnel serving onboard cruise ships owned and operated by the Carnival Corporation. The 2-week program covered theories and practical exercises on the applicable provisions of the mandatory requirements of ISPS Code, SOLAS 74, as amended, and of the STCW Convention, 2010 Manila Amendments, also taking into account the recommendations prescribed in the IMO Model Course 3.26, Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (2012 edition) and IMO Model Course 3.27, Security Awareness Training for All Seafarers (2012 edition). Attended by fifteen (15) participants from the Petron Corporation and San Miguel Corporation Subsidiaries, the 4-day intensive training provided the pilot class with practical knowledge on maritime security policy and responsibilities, port facility security/assessment and on-scene inspections in order to develop and implement security plan and actions. Also, this program will teach the attendees to overcome stage fright. The course was facilitated by Dr. Jose M. Mordeno, Jr., founder of SpeechPower together with other SpeechPower faculties. The course has its 5 modules and at the end of the module, there is an exercise wherein the participants are encouraged to critique one another based on a customized critique sheet that covers the SpeechPower 4V’s of Communication namely ”Vocal, Verbal, Visual and Values”. A Certificate of Completion was given to the participants at the end of the program.

The students were accompanied by 4 faculties from their school during their 8-day training here in Manila. They were all housed at the Magcoop house until they finished the course. Basic Training is also part of their school curriculum and also one of their requirements for graduation.
