MARPOL 73/78

The course was designed to provide shipboard personnel with comprehensive understanding on marine pollution prevention.  This training came about from the need for minimizing violations in the marine pollution regulations by becoming accustomed to the MARPOL 73/78 Convention and its Technical Annexes, understanding of handling of cargoes classified as harmful substances by MARPOL Annex III; how shipboard waste should be managed, the associated waste handling equipment and the appropriate documentation procedures that would apply.

Entry Standards:
The course is intended for Officer-in-charge of a Navigational Watch and an Officer-in-Charge of an Engineering Watch.

It is also recommended for Management Level, Deck and Engine Officers for them to be refreshed and acquainted with the current provisions for the prevention of marine pollution.
