January 21, 2016 – Magsaysay Training Center (MTC) and MAN Diesel and Turbo (MAN DT), a Germany-based company considered as the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of marine and stationary diesel engines, signed a memorandum of agreement to introduce a 2-Stroke Alpha Lubricator Advanced Course and a 4-Stroke Standard Operation and Maintenance Training Course L23/30H in the Philippines.
The agreement was signed by Marlon Roño, Chief Operating Officer of Magsaysay People Resources Corporation; Romeo Piccio, Head of Operations of MTC; Tommy Rand Mølau, Head of PrimseServ Academies Denmark of MAN DT PrimeServ Denmark; and Sebastien Marchand, General Manager of MAN DT Philippines Inc. The ceremonial contract signing was held in Tower Club, Makati and was also attended by Doris Magsaysay Ho, President and CEO of A. Magsaysay, Inc.; Alex Enriquez, Institute Director of Magsaysay Institute of Shipping; CE John Buendia, OIC of Maritime Training of Magsaysay Institute of Shipping; and Dan Porup, Technical Instructor of MAN DT.
The partnership will benefit seafarers and shipping companies alike as the project is deemed to not only promote maritime technical training courses in Manila but will also enhance the competence of marine engineers to effectively operate modern vessels. The courses will be opened to qualified marine personnel of any shipping company and will be taught at MTC in Manila, Philippines using the training center’s state-of-the-art facilities. MAN DT, on the other hand, will provide instructors, training materials and hardware for all the courses that will be offered.
 
The new partnership strengthens MTC’s position as a reputable institution for maritime education. MTC is the award-winning skills-upgrading and training arm of the Magsaysay Group.
